The French government has been pushing through a rise in the pension age from 62 to 64, which has sparked public anger and led to mass demonstrations across the country. The government claims more than a million people protested across the country, with 119,000 solely in Paris. The clashes have erupted over pension reforms. French unions have held their first mass demonstrations since President Emmanuel Macron sparked public anger by forcing a higher retirement age through parliament without a vote. Macron on Wednesday refused to budge on the legislation, which is now down to the Constitutional Council – France’s highest constitutional body – to pass after it was pushed through the lower chamber of parliament and passed in the Senate.
Images coming out of Paris Friday showed firefighters putting out garbage fires while trash could be seen strewn across streets and sidewalks. Some of the demonstrations in the French capital turned violent Thursday, with riot police seen swinging batons and deploying tear gas to disperse protesters. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said Friday that around 441 police officers were injured in the previous day’s clashes and more than 1,000 trash bins in Paris were set ablaze. Since I have a wide audience, let’s clarify some things: Looks like Americans think that Europe is protesting against the system and only they are the ones not getting the news. Sadly no one is protesting in Europe other than France and Europeans don’t hear this news either. Stop believing that Europe is better than America with better food, better people and lots of protests. We are pretty much the same, on the same level thanks to the program and brainwashing.
